Township Council Passes New Tree Ordinance at the June 15, 2022 Council Meeting
Cherry Hill Township Council passed a new Cherry Hill Township tree ordinance amends the previous Township ordinance regulating tree preservation, removal, and replanting at the Council Meeting on June 15. This new ordinance was made possible by the hard work of Township administration, members of Township Council, the Cherry Hill Environmental Board, and our residents. Without the input of all of these people, this new robust tree ordinance would have not been possible.
The intent of this new tree ordinance has been to keep Cherry Hill green, holding developers accountable, and maintain flexibility for individual residents. The ordinance also includes the establishment of the Cherry Hill tree fund, which allocates exclusively for the planting of new trees and education, the hiring of an arborist to ensure additional expertise and working in consultation with the Cherry Hill Environmental Board, and flexibility for homeowners.
